Planning Board Presentation on Initial Findings
On December 11th, the Planning Board reviewed a presentation that included findings from community listening sessions, an online community survey, and initial background research. The presentation can be viewed and downloaded below, and a follow up presentation is planned to occur in February 2026.
About the Plans
The Town of Mocksville is updating its Comprehensive Plan, which serves as a roadmap for future growth and development. It provides a long-term vision that aligns community aspirations with data-driven planning strategies. By analyzing development trends, previously approved plans, demographic and economic data, and community perceptions, the plan establishes a framework to guide land use decisions. Through specific recommendations and a Future Land Use Map, the plan ensures sustainable and well-balanced growth.
While the Town is updating this foundational plan, it is also developing its first Downtown Master Plan. The downtown plan will develop specific recommendations to improve the physical and operational aspects of downtown. Developing these two pivotal plans at the same time will ensure they are well-aligned and coordinated.
This website will serve as the home base for information related to both planning processes.
Comprehensive Plan
The Comprehensive Plan will consider elements such as population growth, economic development trends, natural and cultural resources, infrastructure, housing, land use, transportation, and associated topics. The Town's current Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 2019. To learn more, please visit the Town's project page at the link below.
Downtown Master Plan
While the Town of Mocksville has not yet developed a dedicated Master Plan for downtown, enhancing the downtown area was a key priority in the 2019 Comprehensive Plan. As part of the current update, downtown will receive special emphasis, culminating in the creation of a standalone Downtown Master Plan. This plan will outline a variety of targeted recommendations aimed at guiding the growth, revitalization, and long-term improvement of downtown Mocksville.
